Many people love buying new items,
especially clothing. Unfor tunately, many
of these items are seldom, or never, used.
How can we change this behaviour of
Buying less, making repairs, upcycling,
or even buying secondhand clothing can
help. Also, try customizing the appearance
of your clothes to create a new and
personalized “style.” Lastly, you could
donate them to charity.
Making donations of surplus or used
items to charities such as The Salvation
Army accomplishes much more than being
just environmentally friendly. It also shows
social responsibility and care for the needy in
our community. Donated items are recycled,
sorted and given to the homeless, the elderly
and families with financial difficulties.
The fashion industry is currently
the second largest cause of pollution
worldwide, so change is essential. “If we
are to better the future, we need to disturb
the present!” says Catherine Booth,
Co-Founder of The Salvation Army. On
top of reallocating items, the Army also
regularly educates the youth about current
sustainability issues, and provides support
in environment related projects such as
upscaling and bartering.

What do “high heels” mean to you?

I am not going to discuss economic
indicators, instead, I want to share my two
favourite shoe brands.
Sam Edelman – If you like ballet f lats,
this brand is perfect because it embodies
elegance and urban elements at an
affordable price. More importantly,
these elasticated and portable shoes can
be worn for any occasion and they come in a
variety of colours. They are also extremely
comfortable thanks to a padded leather
Christian Louboutin – This brand,
with its signature red-lacquered soles, is my
hot pick for meetings and special occasions.
I naturally slow my pace when I wear their
high heels, so that I can always walk with
sophistication and confidence. As these
heels are already a “highlight,” I don’t
need to add much more to make my outfit
I think that the best shoes for anyone
are the ones that match our character
and outlook – regardless of the brand.
Moreover, no matter what shoes we wear,
it is essential to take good care of our feet.
